Message So my girlfriend and I decided to take a short day trip up to San Antonio today to spend the afternoon together. On our return trip to Corpus, I was behind an ambulance with his emergency lights off and we were going the speed limit down 37 South. All of a sudden, something comes flying off his roof and smashes my windshield, shattering glass everywhere in the cabin.

I started flashing my lights at him, and he pulled over. The guys in the ambulance said they didn't see anything missing off the van, so I wanted to get a police report just to protect myself. After all, it was a brand new PPG windshield I just had installed in August. There are two smash marks, and it just barely nicked the roof, but it's almost unnoticeable. The police arrived, looked over his roof and saw nothing missing, let him go and moved me off the highway to write his report.

Basically, they're calling it road debris, and I'm liable to have it fixed. My insurance deductible is $250, which is about the cost of a new windshield. However, I don't feel like I should have to pay for another brand new windshield for something that was not my fault. This moved me to go searching the highway for the part.

After 3 passes down the same section trying to recall exactly where it happened, we finally saw something and stopped to grab it. Sure enough, it's a Harley petal, and it fits exactly where the marks are on the windshield. I'm sure someone is missing this thing dearly, and they can have it back. For $250.

Any suggestions on how I can get the great state of Texas to pay for my windshield? Thanks in advance for the advice!

Cheers,
JBrobst,

The woman with blue nuts.
